Fire Door Surveys

Fire Door Surveys

What is it?

Fire doors are designed to restrict the spread of fire and smoke, helping to protect escape routes and providing occupants with more time to evacuate safely. A professional fire door inspection assesses whether the door assembly and its components remain suitable and operational for the building's intended use. The inspection identifies defects and provides clear priorities for repair, maintenance, or further specialist advice.

Why do we need it?

Fire doors form a critical part of a building's fire safety measures and support the findings of the fire risk assessment. To remain effective, they must be maintained in good working order.

When should we do it?

How do we do it?

Our inspection considers the building's use, fire strategy, and any available records. We assess:

  • Door leaf and frame condition

  • Glazing and vision panels

  • Hinges and ironmongery

  • Self-closing devices

  • Intumescent strips and smoke seals

  • Door and frame gaps

  • Fire door signage

  • Visible damage and wear

  • Hold-open devices and arrangements, where applicable

Following the inspection, we produce a clear defect report with prioritised recommendations. The report distinguishes between routine checks that can be completed by the responsible person and issues requiring professional assessment, repair, or replacement.
