PAT Testing in London

(Portable Appliance Testing)

We provide PAT testing services around London.

WHAT

PAT Testing or Portable Appliance Testing is an important part of any companies health and safety policy. Health and safety regulations require that electrical appliances are safe and maintained to prevent harm to workers.

Equipment manufacturers can recommend testing at regular intervals to ensure continued safety; the interval between our testing would depend on both the type of appliance and the environment in which it is to be used.

We can advise on best practice to ensure you are compliant without having to over test.

WHY

British law (the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989) requires that all electrical systems (including electrical appliances) are maintained (so far as is reasonably practicable) to prevent danger.

Reasons to carry out PAT Testing

WHEN

With regular PAT Testing and routine user inspections, this will keep the appliances in good working order and help prevent any work-related electricity accidents.

HOW

The inspection and test will be carried out in accordance with guidance provided in the IET Code of Practise for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.

We start with a visual inspection, checking for:

· Damaged flexes

· Damaged plugs and equipment (overheating, burn marks, discolouration)

· Incorrectly wired plugs

· Incorrectly rated fuse

Then a series of manual tests (depending on the class of equipment), they may include:

· Earth continuity testing

· Insulation resistance

· Polarity test

· Earth leakage test

Our engineers are trained to work around your staff to cause minimal disruption to their working day, ensuring all the appliances on site are tested whilst the staff go about their day-to-day business with little or no disruption.  Each item tested will get its own unique appliance ID and barcoded label.

An asset register and certificate will be supplied upon completion of the testing

"Just wanted to drop you a line thanking you for your kind service. Your engineer was in and out in record time and he really wasn't much of a disturbance. Your customer service was excellent as well.  Well done to you and your team! :)"
